18mm f/3.8 Super-Elmar-M ASPH

The 18mm f/3.8 Super-Elmar-M ASPH lens was introduced in 2008361 (or 2009286) under catalogue number 11649361. The lettering had shifted from the sharp, digital style to the rounded forms reminiscent of the classical Leitz era361. 

The design of the mount was based on a modern engineering approach, where components were manufactured to precise tolerances before assembly361. This technique reduced the need for manual adjustments and the selection of suitable parts during assembly, guaranteeing a consistently high level of quality361.

The construction included 8 elements in 7 groups, with one element having two aspherical surfaces361. It provided an angle of view of 100º and had a minimum focusing distance of 70 cm361. The lens weighted 310 grams and required an E77 filter, which could be used with filter holder/adapter (14484)361. It was available only in a black anodized version and included a 6-bit lens identification361. Additionally, the lens came with a separate, screw-on type lens hood that included a stop361.
