Leica M-P (Typ 240)
Just before Photokina 2014, in August of 2014318, Leica announced the professional version of the Leica M (Typ 240), called the Leica M-P (Typ 240)361. The specifications were nearly identical to those of the Leica M (Typ 240)361. However, the Leica M-P (Typ 240) featured an increased buffer size of 2GB for longer shooting sequences, a sapphire glass display cover, the return of the frame selector lever361, and the classic Leica script logo was featured on the top plate318. Notably, the Leica logo and lettering on the front were removed361.
The product codes were 10772 for silver chrome version and 10773 for the black paint version361.
The Leica M-P (Typ 240) was produced until 2017357.
Leica M-P (Typ 240), dated 2016, number 5000000 was kept at the Leica Museum in Wetzlar390.
Chrome finished Leica M-P (Typ 240), dated 2016, number 5000001 was auctioned off at the 33rd Westlicht Camera Auction390.
Special Editions
Leica M-P (Typ 240) "Rahn Edition" was produced in 2014357. This edition was commissioned by Foto Rahn357. The silver chrome-plated camera had a brown leather cover with black embossed ostrich leather and a special engraving of the 100-year logo on the top plate357.
Leica M-P (Typ 240) "Correspondent" (10789) was produced in 2015357. This special edition was developed in collaboration with Lenny Kravitz357. The glossy black painted camera had a black snakeskin leather cover357. The set included two lenses: a 35mm f/2 Summicron-M ASPH. and a 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH. in the 1959 design357. Both camera and lenses had an aged finish, which was produced by hand357. Examples included:

Leica M-P (Typ 240) "Leica Store Hong Kong 5th Anniversary" was produced in 2015357. The occasion for the special series was the fifth anniversary of the Leica Store Hong Kong357. The camera was silver chrome-plated and had a leather cover in Aztec beige357. It came with a matching silver anodised 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux-M ASPH357. The set also included a half-case in a matching colour, and a carrying strap357.
Leica M-P (Typ 240) "Brass Edition 35" was produced in 2015357. This special edition was commissioned by Leica Camera Asia Pacific357. It was created in collaboration with luxury watch retailer The Hour Glass357. The top and base plates of the camera, as well as the controls, were made of brass with a matt paint finish357. The leather cover was made of chestnut-coloured cowhide and had an ostrich-style embossing357. The matching lens was a 35mm f/2 Summicron-M ASPH357. A small hourglass was engraved in the centre of the top plate above the hot shoe357. In addition, both the camera and lens were specially numbered357.
Leica M-P (Typ 240) "Thailand Edition" was produced in 2015357. The camera was painted white and had several black controls357. The leather covering was also black357.
Leica M-P (Typ 240) "Chengdu Panda" was produced in 2015357. Leica Camera Asia Pacific commissioned the production of these 60 cameras in honour of the Panda Research and Breeding Station in Chengdu, China357. The white-painted camera was character-ised by black controls and a black leather cover357. A panda logo and the words "CHENGDU CHINA" were engraved in black on the back of the top plate357. In addition, the special number XX/60 was engraved in white on the black hot shoe357. The cameras were offered as a set with either a 28mm f/2 Summicron-M ASPH. or a 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH357. Leica M-P (Typ 240) "70th Anniversary Republic of Korea" was produced in 2015 357 . This special series was produced to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Korea's independence 357 . The set consisted of a silver chrome-plated camera and two silver anodized lenses: 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH. and 50 f/0.95 Noctilux-M ASPH 357 . The special engraving "70th Independence Anniversary 1945-2015 " was engraved on the top plate 357 .
Leica M-P (Typ 240) "Leica Galerie Frankfurt" was produced in 2015357. This special series of 50 outfits was produced to mark the opening of the Leica Gallery and Store in Frankfurt on the Main357. The camera was painted grey and also had a grey leather cover357. The 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH. included in the set was anodised silver357. The set was delivered in a special Oberwerth bag357. Leica M-P (Typ 240) "Safari" was produced in 2015357. The camera was finished in a robust and resistant olive green paint and had a special engraving on the top plate357. It was supplied as a set with a silver anodised 35mm f/2 Summicron-M ASPH. with a round metal lens hood, a matching carrying strap and an SD card case357.
Leica M-P (Typ 240) "grip" was produced in 2016357. This special edition of 79 sets was created in collaboration with the Swiss artist and photographer Rolf Sachs357. The black camera was finished with a studded red rubber coating357. The most important numbers on the camera and lens were also coloured red357. "rolf sachs" was engraved in black on the back of the top plate357. The set was delivered in a black case and included a 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH., the Leica SF 40 flash unit, a matching carrying strap, and cleaning brushes357. Examples included:

Leica M-P (Typ 240) "Marina Bay Sands" was produced in 2016357. The occasion for the special edition was the opening of the Leica Store in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore357. The camera was silver chrome-plated, and the leatherette cover was also silver357. The three buildings of Marina Bay Sands were engraved on the top plate357. In addition, a lion's head was engraved in the centre of the lens hood of the matching Leica 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH357.
Leica M-P (Typ 240) "Leica Ginza Store 10th Anniversary" was produced in 2016357. This special series was produced to mark the tenth anniversary of the Leica Store Ginza in Tokyo357. The camera and controls were milled from solid titanium and had a black leather finish357. There was a special engraving on the back of the top plate357.
Leica M-P (Typ 240) "Titan" was produced in 2016357. In this special version, the top plate, the base cover and the controls were milled from solid titanium357. The special numbering was engraved on the hot shoe357. The set also included two titanium-coloured anodised lenses: a Leica 28mm f/2 Summicron-M ASPH. and a 50mm f/2 Summicron-M ASPH357. Examples included:

Leica M-P (Typ 240) "150th Anniversary Canada" was produced in 2017357. This special edition was released on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the founding of Canada357. The camera was anodised silver and had a "Canada 150" emblem engraved in red on the top plate357. The same engraving was also on the matching Leica 35mm f/2 Summicron-M ASPH357. The leather covering of the camera was made of red cowhide357. The rope strap in the set was also made of the same leather357.
